History;
The Wentworth Institute of Technology is a private, coeducational technical college in Boston, Massachusetts. It is one of the oldest technical schools in the United States and has been known as America’s technology college because it was the first college to offer degrees in technology fields. Originally established as an art school called The Boston School for Drawing and Painting, Wentworth became a four-year institution by 1837 when it merged with a neighboring institution called The Boston Architectural College. The name was changed to The Wentworth Institute of Technology in 2001. Today, this small school offers over 40 degree programs at undergraduate, graduate, and certificate levels.

One notable alumnus is John Lasseter, Pixar co-founder and Academy Award winner for Best Animated Feature. Lasseter graduated from Wentworth Institute with a degree in animation and went on to become one of the most important figures in the field.
Another notable alumnus is Steve Perlman, founder, and CEO of Rearden Commerce. Perlman was awarded the National Medal of Technology for his inventions and contributions to Silicon Valley’s development. He also has a degree from Wentworth Institute in biomedical engineering.
A third notable alumnus is Lisa Falzone, president, and CEO of Red Ventures Interactive Services LLC. Falzone has an MBA from Wentworth Institute’s management program and she has served as dean at NUI Galway in Ireland since 2011.
