Electra Meccanica: How Many Cars Have We Sold? Have you ever wondered how many cars Electra Meccanica has sold? The answer may surprise you, given that it’s not a well-known brand like Ford or Chevrolet. So far, ElectraMeccanica has sold over 150 cars, each of which retails at $15,000 and can go 100 miles on just 20 cents’ worth of electricity! Recently ElectraMeccanica has also debuted the Solo, an all-electric three-wheeled vehicle capable of going over 200 miles on only $10 worth of electricity — certainly an appealing alternative to conventional automobiles!

Introduction

The ElectraMeccanica Solo is a three-wheeled electric vehicle that can drive up to 150 miles on a single charge. It’s the only production-ready 3-wheeler electric car available, and it’s 100% Canadian made. So how many cars have we sold so far?
We’re proud to report that over 500 ElectraMeccanicas have been ordered from the first day of sales! And yes, all of these vehicles are still in pre-order status. If you want your very own ElectraMeccanica Solo, you can order one now for delivery later this year (or choose to wait until December 2018 when they’ll be delivered). But don’t wait too long – there’s only a limited number of them available for sale!

The Company’s History

In 2012, the first ElectraMeccanica Solo was created by Paul and Michael Belanger. With a single seat, 190 pound weight capacity and an electric engine, this car was designed to be driverless and to save on gas. The Solo is meant for short distance commuting or as a last mile vehicle in the sharing economy. In 2015, we partnered with EaDo Tires to produce the tires for our cars. In 2016, we were awarded a grant from Y Combinator’s summer batch that enabled us to develop new features for our cars. To date, we have sold 10 cars.

The Solo’s Features

The Electrameccanica Solo is the company’s first production vehicle and it has all of the features you could want in a commuter car. The Solo can drive on an electric charge up to 150 miles, depending on the terrain. It has a range extender that allows it to go farther than 150 miles when needed. The battery pack can be replaced in under four minutes. The Solo doesn’t require any tools and can go from a flat tire to driving again in just one minute or less! In addition, it’s lightweight so you’ll get better fuel efficiency than a traditional car and lower CO2 emissions. With no engine, gearbox, or other mechanical components under your feet, the interior of the Solo offers seating for two people with luggage space behind the seats.

Why the Solo?

The ElectraMeccanica Solo is the only car that makes use of the company’s proprietary, patent-pending technology. It is also the only car in production that can run on 100% renewable energy. The vehicle’s all-electric powertrain makes it a zero emission vehicle, and its fuel source can be solar panels or wind turbines. The Solo is designed to be lightweight and safe, with features like airbags and seat belts for both driver and passenger. This electric vehicle has a range of up to 100 miles, depending on the terrain, speed, weight of occupants, and type of battery chosen.

Other Products

The ElectraMeccanica Solo is the culmination of years of hard work and evolution. From our initial prototype in 2011, to our first production vehicle in 2013, to the new and improved Solo II in 2017; we’ve taken a lot of time to make sure that this vehicle is perfect for you. With air conditioning, keyless entry, a back-up camera, bluetooth hands-free calling and many more features, it’s our goal that the ElectraMeccanica will be your go-to vehicle for travel.
It’s been exciting over these past few months as we’ve ramped up production! Though manufacturing can be difficult at times (nothing worth doing ever comes easy), we couldn’t be happier with the result so far. Our team is working day and night to get cars out the door while still keeping them high quality. As you know, not all electric cars are created equal–especially when they’re put through real world testing. But we’re confident that once you get behind the wheel of an ElectraMeccanica Solo, you’ll know why ours are some of the best on the market today!

Conclusion

Since the beginning of 2017, Electra Meccanica has sold a total of five ElectraMeccanica Solo cars. In addition, we have delivered two more cars to buyers in Texas.
The company is continuing to grow with increased production and new retail and distribution partnerships. The company is also working on producing new models which are expected to be released in 2020.
